YeneSchool is built upon the fundamental principle that educational data belongs exclusively to the schools, families, and students who generate it. We operate strictly as a secure digital custodian—never an owner, broker, or advertiser.

1. Institutional Ownership of Academic Records

Every record stored in YeneSchool—including student personal identification, family contact information, examination scores, disciplinary files, health notes, and tuition receipts—remains the exclusive, sovereign property of the subscribing institution:

• No Data Monetization: YeneSchool never sells, rents, licenses, or shares student or staff data with third-party data brokers, marketing agencies, or advertisers.
• No In-App Commercial Advertising: All student, parent, and teacher portals are 100% advertising-free.
• No Behavioral Profiling: Student activity across CBT exams and portals is used exclusively for legitimate educational evaluations, never for commercial profiling.

2. Legitimate Educational Interest Doctrine

In alignment with international privacy standards and Ethiopian child protection frameworks, access to student records within YeneSchool is strictly restricted by Legitimate Educational Interest:

1. Need-to-Know Scoping: A teacher can only access grades, attendance, and disciplinary history for students currently enrolled in sections they teach.
2. Counselor & Director Oversight: Guidance counselors and directors have pastoral access to student early-warning risk indicators, but notes tagged as confidential medical or family matters are restricted to authorized pastoral staff.
3. Parental Scoping: Parents and guardians can only view records for children legally linked to their household via registrar verification. Sibling accounts are consolidated cleanly without leaking information between unrelated households.

3. Data Portability & Vendor Neutrality

We believe schools should partner with YeneSchool because of the quality of our service, not because their data is held captive. School administrators retain the absolute right to export their institutional database at any time:

• Student Rosters & Historical Grades: Downloadable in standardized Excel and CSV spreadsheets.
• Official Transcripts & Leaving Certificates: Exportable as cryptographically verifiable PDF documents.
• Financial Ledgers & Payment Histories: Exportable directly for external Ministry of Education or tax auditing.
• Tenant Termination: Upon contract expiration or formal written request, YeneSchool provides a full SQL dump of the school's isolated data and permanently purges server copies within 30 days.
