How to switch the YeneSchool interface between Amharic, Afaan Oromo, Somali, Arabic, and English.

Language & Localisation

YeneSchool supports five languages to serve Ethiopia's diverse communities. You can switch the entire interface — menus, labels, buttons, and notifications — to your preferred language at any time.

Supported Languages

LanguageCodeScript
EnglishenLatin
አማርኛ (Amharic)amEthiopic (Ge'ez)
Afaan OromoomLatin
Soomaali (Somali)soLatin
العربية (Arabic)arArabic (RTL)

!NOTE Arabic displays right-to-left (RTL). The entire layout mirrors automatically when Arabic is selected.

How to Switch Language

  1. Log in to YeneSchool.
  2. Click your profile avatar or name in the top-right corner of any page.
  3. Select Language (or ቋንቋ in Amharic) from the dropdown menu.
  4. Choose your preferred language from the list.
  5. The page reloads immediately in the selected language — no further action needed.

!TIP Your language preference is saved to your account. You will see the same language the next time you log in, even on a different device.

What Changes When You Switch

  • All navigation menus and sidebar labels
  • Page titles and form field labels
  • System notifications and alerts
  • Date and number formats (where applicable)
  • Report card and document headings

!NOTE Some custom content entered by your school (such as teacher remarks or school announcements) may remain in the language it was originally written in. AI-powered translation of dynamic content requires the school administrator to enable the translation feature.
