Discount Policies
Discount Policies
YeneSchool lets you define Discount Policies at the school level and then apply them to individual students. Discounts reduce the effective balance a student owes on their fee items.
Types of Discounts
| Type | How It Works | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Percentage | Reduces the fee by a percentage of the total | 25% sibling discount |
| Fixed Amount | Reduces the fee by a set ETB amount | ETB 500 off registration |
Creating a Discount Policy
Discount policies are managed by your school administrator. If you need a new policy (e.g., a new scholarship tier), ask your Admin or School Director to create it under Settings → Discount Policies.
The policy fields are:
- Name — e.g., Sibling Discount, Merit Scholarship, Staff Child.
- Type — Percentage or Fixed Amount.
- Value — the percentage number or the fixed ETB amount.
Applying a Discount to a Student
- Go to Students in the sidebar and open the student's profile.
- Navigate to the Finance tab on the student's profile page.
- Click Apply Discount.
- Select the applicable Discount Policy from the dropdown.
- Confirm the discount value shown is correct.
- Click Save. The student's outstanding balance updates immediately.
!TIP For sibling discounts, apply the policy to the younger sibling's profile. The reduced balance shows on the Outstanding Balances tab automatically.
!WARNING Discounts are applied to the total fee, not to individual installments. Once applied, the remaining balance across all unpaid installments is recalculated proportionally.
!NOTE All applied discounts are visible in the Total Discounts summary card on the Finance dashboard and are recorded in the Finance Audit Log for accountability.
