Offline Mode (PWA)
YeneSchool is a Progressive Web App (PWA), which means it can work even when your internet connection is slow or unavailable. This is especially useful in areas of Ethiopia with limited connectivity.
Installing YeneSchool as an App
- Open YeneSchool in your mobile browser (Chrome or Safari).
- When prompted, tap Add to Home Screen — or use your browser's Install App option from the menu.
- The app icon will appear on your home screen just like a native app.
- Open it from there for the fastest experience, including offline access.

!NOTE Data that you viewed before going offline is cached and still readable. New data — such as grades that were published while you were offline — will only appear after you reconnect.
How to Know You Are Offline
When YeneSchool detects no internet connection, an "You are offline" banner appears at the top of the screen. The banner disappears automatically once connectivity is restored.
How Sync Works
When your connection returns:
- Any attendance or grade entries made offline are automatically uploaded in the background.
- New data from the server (notifications, messages, updated grades) is downloaded.
- The interface refreshes to show the latest information.
!IMPORTANT Do not close the app immediately after reconnecting. Allow a few seconds for the background sync to complete before logging out.
