How the YeneSchool early warning system detects at-risk students across attendance, academics, discipline, and fee indicators.

Student Risk Engine & Early Warnings

The YeneSchool Student Risk Engine is an intelligent early-warning tool designed to help directors, headteachers, and counselors identify students who may need academic or pastoral intervention before problems escalate.

How the Risk Score is Calculated

The system monitors four core indicators and aggregates them into a normalized score from 0 to 100:

Risk Score = (Attendance × 35%) + (Academic Trend × 35%) + (Discipline × 15%) + (Fee Balance × 15%)
Risk LevelScore RangeBadge ColorRecommended Action
Low Risk0 – 30GreenRoutine monitoring
Moderate Risk31 – 60Yellow / AmberTeacher check-in, mentor assignment
High Risk61 – 85OrangeParent-teacher meeting, remedial support
Critical Risk86 – 100RedUrgent intervention case conference

Viewing the Risk Dashboard

  1. Navigate to Director Dashboard → Risk & Analytics or select Student Risk from the sidebar.
  2. Filter the student cohort by:
    • Academic Year & Term
    • Grade Level / Section
    • Risk Category (Academic, Attendance, Discipline, or Combined)
  3. The list shows each student's:
    • Current Risk Score & badge
    • 30-day risk trajectory (Improving ↗, Stable →, Worsening ↘)
    • Primary contributing factors (e.g., "3 consecutive unexcused absences", "Midterm math score dropped 25%")

Taking Action on an At-Risk Student

Click on any student row in the risk table to open their Intervention Profile:

  1. Log a Note: Add private counselor or administrator notes regarding student discussions.
  2. Assign a Remedial Plan: Link the student to after-school tutoring or a study group.
  3. Notify Parent: Trigger an SMS, push notification, or automated Telegram alert to the parent or guardian.
  4. Schedule Case Review: Flag the student for discussion at the weekly staff meeting.

!NOTE Risk scores recalculate every evening automatically when daily attendance and grading logs are processed by the background AI engine.
